About the Artist

Grace McKee was born in India and grew up surrounded by art in the form of beautiful architecture, amazing sculptures, exquisitely embroidered silks, intricate jewelry, vividly colored flowers and enchanting dances.

Grace’s passion for color is evident in her paintings.  She gained a great deal of inspiration from books portraying the works of Sergei Bongart, Nicolai Fechin, John Singer Sargent, Richard Schmid and the Impressionists.  Her painting tends towards impressionism with lots of color and abundant paint.  Grace paints landscapes mostly, but also a wide variety of other subjects ranging from flowers to still life, portraits and nudes.  Although her main love is oil, she paints watercolors too, especially while traveling.

Since moving to Arizona,  she has studied with established artists including Nancy Guzik, Quang Ho, Daniel Keys, CW Mundy, Qiang Huang, Craig Srebnik, Don Sahli, William Scott Jennings, Gretchen Lopez, Kathryn Stats, Pat Weaver, Betty Carr and John Budicin.  Her artistic goal is to have her paintings reflect the warm and colorful beauty that surrounds us, conveying a sense of nostalgia for familiar places and keen anticipation for those that we have yet to visit.

Grace is an associate member of Oil Painters of America and Allied Artists of America, a member of the American Impressionist Society, Medical Art Society UK, Sedona Visual Artists’ Coalition, Northern Arizona Watercolor Society and the Sedona Arts Center.  She has had paintings displayed in juried exhibitions at the Millhouse Pond Gallery, New York, The Pen and Brush Gallery, New York, the Sedona Arts Center and Manheim Gallery, Cottonwood, AZ.  She was juried into Salon International 2009 held at Greenhouse Gallery, Texas.  She had an exhibition at Galleria d’arte Moderna in Ferrara, Italy, in June 2009, and at Castello Estense in Ferrara in May 2011.  Grace was represented by Agora Gallery, NY 2008-2009, Infusion Gallery, Los Angeles in 2009-2010, Artists Haven Gallery, FL 2010-2011 and is currently represented by Manheim Gallery, Cottonwood, AZ.  Her work can also be viewed on Saatchi Online and Artnow Online.
